If you are a fan of Christian and Ana’s intense and provocative romance, then I am sure you waited for this book too! This is the sixth and final installment to the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise by author E.L. James, and is the Christian POV version of Fifty Shades Freed.
I enjoyed reading both Grey and Darker last year so it’s safe to say that I have high expectations for Freed. And it did not disappoint. At 755 pages, I think it can be shortened in some parts but that’s just my opinion. I mean, I like the sexy stuff but I already know where that ends, so I guess it appealed to me less. However, if you want to revisit all the salacious moments in Fifty Shades Freed, this time through a male perspective, then you should not skip any part of this book.
As a fan of the somewhat unconventional storyline, this part of the plot is my favorite as it exposes major character backgrounds as well as the extent of character development, not only pertaining to Christian and Ana, but also the people around them. This is also where I am most intrigued as Christian bares it all. Reading Fifty Shades Freed was satisfying but afterwards I am honestly left with questions like: “How was it possible for Christian to give up a big part of his lifestyle in such a short span of time?”, “What were Christian’s thoughts when the Jack Hyde incident happened?”, “With Mrs. Robinson’s possessive claim on Christian, what really occurred during that night when Christian got drunk?”, “How does Christian feel about Ana’s persistent ‘defiance’ (mostly during their Europe honeymoon, but come on, she did not agree on obeying in the first place)?”, so on and so forth.
Well, if you had these questions too, I am more than happy to let you know that Freed has all the answers. By the end of the novel, you would certainly feel that this story has ended. And only in the best possible way.
I tend to avoid ratings, but since this part of the blog focuses on providing my honest and personal reviews, I figured I might as well give in to it. So, I give it 4 stars.
It is indeed satisfying to see Christian Grey transform and overcome the horrors of his past, giving us not only an extremely attractive shell of man, but one who is capable of compassion and love.
